Washington State Communications Toolkit

The toolkit materials below were designed in collaboration with many of the state's communications professionals as a resource for superintendents, principals, assessment/curriculum directors, central office administrators, etc. as they are confronted with the communication challenges regarding implementation of NCLB. These officials are often the first to respond to media inquiries.

While school leaders have already been exposed to the tremendous impact of the law, the general public does not possess the same level of knowledge. Parents, community groups, business and the media are all key audiences for public schools; and they are important partners in the process. The more proactive education leaders can be to inform them about the new law, the more support and understanding these groups will have for the good work accomplished each day in classrooms across the state.

Washington State's work on education policy and practices are reflected in these materials. Each piece is presented in MS Word and districts are encouraged to modify them to fit district needs.
