CORE 24 and the Meaningful High School Diploma Initiative
Improving graduation requirements to better prepare all students
Through the Meaningful High School Diploma Initiative, SBE has created a proposed credit framework called CORE 24. The “core” of CORE 24 is a set of graduation requirements that will prepare students intentionally for whatever option they choose after high school.
CORE 24 represents the essential high school graduation requirements all students should have to prepare for life after high school. A handout outlining the key components of CORE 24 is available for download.
A list of the current graduation requirements is available here.
The CORE 24 Implementation Task Force
SBE formed a 20 member Task Force to work through the mechanics and policy implications of CORE 24.
The Task Force committee members will have several meetings to create a phase-in and implementation strategy for CORE 24. The charter for the Task Force is available here.
