Governor Gregoire Appoints Issaquah’s Connie Fletcher to the Washington State Board of Education

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Governor Gregoire has appointed Connie Fletcher (Issaquah) to fill a vacant seat on the Washington State Board of Education.

Ms. Fletcher previously served on the Board from 2009 through 2011 as a representative of the Washington State School Directors’ Association.

Though her term has expired as an elected member, Governor Gregoire has requested Ms. Fletcher to join the Board once again as one of her appointees, filing a vacant seat left by past Board member Eric Liu.

Ms. Fletcher’s educational leadership experience includes 16 years with the Issaquah School District and three years as president and officer of the Washington State School Directors’ Association.

Ms. Fletcher will serve on the Board for a four-year term.

About the State Board of Education: The State Board of Education provides advocacy and strategic oversight of public education. The board is comprised of 16 members: five are elected by school board directors, seven are appointed by the Governor, two serve as student representatives, and one serves as a private school representative.
