An Accountability Resolution

Ensuring each and every student receives an excellent and equitable education.

In 2005, the Washington State legislature directed SBE to create a statewide system of accountability with the goal of uniform educational excellence across the state (RCW 28A.305.130.4 (c) (d) (e) (f)) . That legislative charge was reinforced with the passage of ESHB 2261 in the spring of 2009.

A focus on system performance accountability is one of the top priorities for SBE in 2009.

The Board has developed a new Accountability Framework that will ensure all students receive an equitable and excellent education. For a succinct overview, this graphic highlights the proposed system of accountability and improvement. The most current version of SBE’s accountability resolution is also available here.
