Schools: Join the Mastery-based Learning Collaborative

SBE will host an informational webinar on Wednesday, September 13 from 1-2 p.m. for schools interested in applying to become a member of the Mastery-based Learning Collaborative - a group of schools funded to implement mastery-based learning. Schools will learn about culturally responsive mastery-based learning, hear about the experience of joining this community of schools, plus find out more about funding and professional learning. NOTE: Viewing the September 13 Cohort 2 Info Session

Standards-based Grading

Has your district adopted standards-based grading? If so, please let us know. You could be featured in future state-wide SBE outreach! Standards-based grading is used in mastery-based education. See the table below from the Aurora Institute.

Mastery-based Learning in WA

SBE has convened a mastery-based (also known as competency-based) learning work group. The group, established in law, identifies barriers to mastery-based learning and explores ways to increase student access to relevant and robust academic pathways that are aligned to personal career and postsecondary goals.
